Sea Ray History

Sea Ray had its origins in a Detroit, Michigan area boat manufacturer named Carr Craft. Cornelius Nathanial Ray III, known as C.N. or Connie, purchased Carr Craft in 1959 and renamed it Sea Ray, co-founding the new venture, Ray Industries, with his life-long friend, Arch John Mehaffey. Carr Craft had produced golf cart bodies, coffins, and fiberglass boats. With the design assistance of Jerry Michalak and Harley Earl & Associates, the early line of Sea Ray Boats were highly styled.
